Power Cables

Power cables are designed for transmitting and distributing electrical energy over various distances. Cables capable of withstanding voltages above 1,000 volts are classified as high‑voltage power cables. These types of wires and cables are primarily used in electrical transmission and distribution networks—from substations to industrial and infrastructure feeder lines—and play a crucial role in ensuring stable and safe power supply.

Application

These types of cables are used in distribution boards, power plants, household electricity meters, and street lighting. They are also used as control cables for transmitting control pulses and test data, and generally wherever higher electrical and mechanical protection is required. These cables can be installed outdoors, underground, underwater, inside buildings, or in cable ducts. The concentric conductor can simultaneously serve as a neutral conductor, earth (ground) wire, or even as a screen.

Structure

  • Conductor: Annealed copper, Class 1 (solid) or Class 2 (stranded), in accordance with IEC 60228 or ISIRI 3084.
  • Insulation: PVC compound type PVC/A.
  • Arrangement of cores: In multi-core cables, the insulated cores are stranded together.
  • Inner sheath: The stranded cores are covered with extruded PVC compound or with a tape applied helically.
  • Concentric conductor: In single-core cables, the concentric conductor is applied directly over the insulation, and in multi-core cables it is applied over the inner sheath. The concentric conductor may consist of copper wires, copper tape, or a combination of both.
  • Sheath: PVC compound type PVC/ST1. The sheath color is typically black.

Standard

  • ISIRI 3569 or IEC 60502 with a rated voltage of 600/1000 V.

Application

These types of cables are used for supplying electrical energy in outdoor environments, underground, underwater, inside buildings, in cable ducts, power plants, industrial applications, distribution centers, and consumer networks, where there is no risk of mechanical damage to the cable.

Structure

  • Conductor: Annealed copper, Class 1 (solid), Class 2 (stranded), or Class 5 (flexible), in accordance with IEC 60228 or ISIRI 3084.
  • Insulation: PVC compound type PVC/A.
  • Arrangement of cores: In multi-core cables, the cores are twisted together.
  • Inner sheath: The twisted cores are covered with extruded PVC compounds or transverse wrapping tapes.
  • Sheath: PVC compound type PVC/ST1. The sheath color is typically black.

Standard

  • With a rated voltage of 600/1000 V — ISIRI 3569 or IEC 60502.
